Shanjetso Football Fraternity – Team Bio
We currently have:
– 32 senior boys (18–30 years)
– 66 junior boys (9–17 years)
– 28 senior starlets (18–28 years)
– 24 junior starlets (8–17 years)
Our senior boys’ team, Shanjetso Green Commandos, was established in 2010 and laid the foundation for our mission-driven legacy. In 2016, we proudly expanded to include a senior ladies’ team, reinforcing our commitment to equal opportunity, empowerment, and inclusivity in football.
But Shanjetso is more than just football. ⚽
We use the game as a tool for sensitization, education, and social change. Our teams have actively participated in the Mulika Campaign, an initiative addressing rape, defilement, impacting not just players but also parents and the wider community.
By God’s grace, our efforts have borne fruit:
2 players from our junior starlets are now part of the national team
3 starlets play in the Kenya Premier League
As a coach and mentor, I’ve witnessed how initiatives like Mulika not only raise awareness but also empower young people, instill discipline, and build purpose. Even better, the campaign often takes the form of tournaments where our teams compete, win prizes, and earn training equipment while learning and growing together.
Challenges remain. We face limited support and facilities, and some of our most talented players are teenage mothers who lack resources to continue their football journey. With the right support, we believe we can return to the regional league we once played in and continue nurturing talent while transforming lives.
